A Spina Bifida and Trisomy 18 Angel Katie-Rae was born on August 10th, 2016. We found out at our 20-week scan that she had Spina Bifida and most likely Trisomy 18. They told us she would be a vegetable and that it would be cruel to keep her alive, although it was highly unlikely she would make it to birth. They repeatedly asked us about getting an abortion. We ignored the doctors and let her lead the way. She certainly showed the doctors what she was made of. She proved them wrong again and again. Unfortunately, the cardiology doctors wouldn't give her the time of day. Her little heart grew tired, and she grew her wings peacefully in my arms on February 6th, 2017. She gave us 6 amazing months I wouldn't trade for the world. She loved us as much as we loved her. She loved watching her sensory lights and loved sucking on her dummy. She was so nosey and would always want to know who was holding her, and she loved her cuddles and being held. She got through the tough times when doctors said she wouldn't. She was so brave and made me the proudest Mummy.
